Great little spot. Incredible collection of
everything Japanese. Records, books, toys, posters, memoriblia and much more. 400 yen entry and owner is super friendly. Not to be missed.
Random stuff from the 70s and 80s. Don't plan your day around it but if you're in matsushima and need to kill 30-60 minutes enjoying memories of old technology and culture, it's pretty neat. Posters, electronics, games, etc. You can touch the exhibits.
A small space but I loved it. You can touch and play with most of the exhibits. The proprietor was very friendly and eager to demonstrate or explain items in the collection. You can also ask him to play any of the vintage records in the collection.
My favorite museum in Japan up until now. Has very interesting pieces from everyday life in Japan.
Games are playable as well :D
Takes only 30ish minutes to see everything, so it's absolutely obligatory on a visit to Matsushima.
Fabulous! A tiny space, but a treasure trove of great objects. Do go, even if you're not Japanese. I loved it.
I thought it would be nice if I could kill time while traveling, but it was so much fun that I ended up staying for over an hour! lol
I think the Showa era is the main thing, but there are quite a few Heisei retro items, so I think people of all ages can enjoy it.
There were other cheap sweets for sale, and there were lottery tickets for the Super Bowl, which reminded me of my childhood.
There is a chair in front of the book corner, so you can read while sitting.
There were books from around 1955, idol magazines from the 1980s, and many unusual things that were worth seeing.
It's a wonderful collection.
I'm impressed that you've collected so much.
These are not large-scale items that would be collected in art museums, but rather B-class items in a good sense, such as candy shop products that would normally be thrown away, records, figures, candy toys, and magazines released from the 1960s to the 1960s. etc. are lined up in a row. The collection that I particularly like are posters for Asahi and Kirin draft beer from the past.
This poster may be difficult to obtain unless you're looking for a restaurant or bar, but the visuals reflect the times so well that I identified with myself at the time, and was able to momentarily travel back in time.
I was born in 1964, but I thought this collection would be most appealing to those of a slightly older generation (late 1950s).
I saw the pamphlet placed at the inn and decided to give it a try!
First of all, when I saw the exterior, I was surprised to see that it was smaller than I expected (sorry for my rude comment 🙇♀️)
I was surprised when I went inside! Inside the store, you will feel as if you have traveled back in time to the Showa era! There were some reviews that said it wasn't fun depending on the age group, but we went with 4 generations, the first one in his 80s and the youngest up to 2 years old, and everyone really enjoyed it ♡
Admission fee is 400 yen for adults, and free for elementary school students and younger, which is reasonable.
It was fun to see and touch, so we spent nearly an hour with the whole family without getting bored!
If you take a quick look, you'll end up with something like this, but if you take a closer look, you'll find interesting things scattered all over the place ♬
At the sales corner, they sold nostalgic lottery tickets and candy, and both adults and children were fascinated by it ♡
Maybe a photo that's trending right now? Emotional photos? Depending on what you want to take, you should be able to take some pictures, so I recommend it! lol
